400 Meter Relay (46.68) Joe Chen Emmanuel Stand Jack Yoo Jamie Wang 200 Meter Dash Joe Chen (24.21) Long Jump Jack Yoo (18-1) Girls 400 Meter Dash Macy Ho (78.45) The 2012 regular track season ended May 12 at the District Meet with four boys and one girl qualifying for the State 1A Championship Meet. The Pilots were strongest in the sprints (200m, 400m and 4x100m relay) and also advanced a long jumper to the Oregon 2A title meet. Canyonville Christian Academy’s team is coached by Cathy Lovato and Mike Stansberry.

Seminar Class Goes To Leadership Conference

Students from Canyonville Christian Academy‘s Seminar Class, taught by Roger Shaffer, attended the national Chick-Fil-A leadership conference May 4th, 2012 – a simulcast to 700 locations throughout the U.S. 125,000 people attended this 6 1/2 hour seminar. Featured speakers ranged from NFL – star Tim Tebow to Ivy League professors.

CCA Captures Top Nine Places In Statewide Stock Competition!

CCA has captured the top nine places in the final standings of the statewide investing competition. The top entry for CCA was Micah Jocoy who built his $100,000 starting account to over $179,000 in ten weeks. During the Spring game the major market indeces (Dow Jones Industrials, S&P 500 rose by just over 1%. Seven CCA students saw their portfolios rise by more than 25% during the contest. There were more than 390 entries in this year’s Spring competition. The best of the non-Pilot entry was from Jesuit High School (Portland), generating a net gain of $14,207. CCA’s investors came from Mr. Halseide’s economics classes with Roger Shaffer serving as advisor for the game.

CCA LEADS STOCK COMPETITION

With just two weeks remaining in the Oregon high school stock market game, CCA”s investors are comfortably way out front. Micah Jocoy had made nearly 70% in just eight weeks to lead all Oregon stock pickers. Five other CCA entrants have made 25% or more. The top non-CCA entry is from Jesuit High School (Portland) with an 11% gain. There are nearly 400 entries in this Spring’s competition.

Sunday Morn Welcome Service

This weekend was Welcome Weekend for private school Canyonville Christian Academy. With weary travelers arriving all weekend, some having traveled for over 19 hours, the weekend was mixed with friends reuniting, new friends meeting, drivers picking up boarding students from the three main airports in Oregon, deans getting tired travelers to their rooms to sleep and cooks busy getting food ready. Saturday, tired students were greeted with a barbeque outside, and some very helpful staff members. Sunday started with an outdoor church service with Jim and Cori Burkhert leading in 2 songs of praise, also helping was alumni from last year – Hyunil Yoo and Sohyun Ji both from South Korea. This was followed by Noel Schaak speaking, encouraging, instructing and welcoming students back for a new year of school and was followed by another barbeque meal. What a wonderful joy to walk around the campus and enjoying meeting people from over 12 countries right in your own school! The school year 2010-2011 has now begun.
