1975 & 1996 Track Records Shattered in Sprint Events

by admin
Gabriel Martin, senior from Columbia, became the dominant sprinter in Canyonville Christian Academy boys’ track history with a pair of late season school track records in the 100 and 200 meter dashes.
His mark of 11.44 (fully auto converted) in the 100 came at the Oakland Twilight meet. This replaces the Joey Maurer mark of 11.54 set in 1996. Maurer was a state champion in this event.
In the 200 meter dash, Martin posted a time of 23.31 (fully auto) at the 2016 district championship meet. The old mark was 23.54 by Robby Reinhardt set in 1975. (Note: To convert all sprint marks to hand time equivalent, deduct 0.24 seconds)
Martin will be competing at the state meet in both events and also running a leg for the 1600 meter relay team.
Congratulations Gabriel!
